So much people have conflict about this date...21 december 2012....were the Mayans right?

I think I will ask for 2012's actual happening as a birthday present. O.o

Uh..really Kristy? that would seem like a waste of a birthday present to me, lol. and I don't think it would happen, since when have south and central americans been right? I mean, there's none of their ancient civilization left.

Now the 21st of December 2012 will not be the end of the world simply because it's a cycle that repeats every 13 b'ak'tuns (one b'ak'tun is worth 144,000 days). Now I think this is amazing, because we live to witness the repetition of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar which only happens every 5,125 solar years or so. Now the last repetition of the calendar (5,122 years ago) did not mean the end of the world. So this theory is illegitimate unless the Precolumbian Mayans stated that the cycle ends and will not be repeated.

On the other hand, legends and myths like these are rarely true unless there's a perfectly logic explanation to it. We no longer think of thunder as the wrath of the Gods, neither do we believe eclipse means apocalypse. Meteorites, fire that rains from the sky, are now explainable. I think 2012 simply provides fear to those who believe because we are never certain what will happen.


The geomagnetic reversal that is said to be caused by the Earth's weakening magnegic field, is entirely plausible, but it could happen anytime. Scientists say that this "polar shift" is long overdue, and that it had been for a long time, even before the Mayan prediction. The only thing that is scientifically predicted to happen between 2010 and 2012 is a significantly strong solar maximum. This won't, however, destroy humanity.

And here I blabber about scientists. There is no explanation why doomsday will happen, but it can. Heck, somebody might launch a nuke and make Earth look like Korhal. Haha...

One more thing, Nibiru (Planet X) does not exist. At least, there is no planet called Nibiru in the solar system. Or if there is such a gigantic comet, it is not a planet. So I ridicule this theory... What do you think?

And the raise of our exposition to sun's radiation may cause lots of cancers, mutations andmight as well kill crops, devlop new diseases, kill animals... So it could be dangerous.

Winter happens when the Earth is closest to the sun. Do we die then? No.

We don't have the proof of Nibiru's existance, but it is NOT a planet, at least not in the solar system. There are only 8 planets in our solar system, and if Nibiru is a planet, it must orbit a star. Now how can Nibiru collide with Earth if it orbits a star?


Nothing happens at the end of the b'ak'tun. It's just that another b'ak'tun begins.

there's something that defines the end of a cycle, if not, why would we waste our time to classify it as a cycle?

and I'm talking about sun radiation, not about the distance...NASA said that the sun core's activity coould jump in the next years. There could be a small augmentation of our exposition to sun's radiation for a week or two, or the sun could unleash a wave of plasma that would violently hit our planet, burning its surface.

And the theory of Nibiru talks about a close red dwarf (pretty hard to see since it doesn't make light) in the close neighbor of the sun. A long time ago, the sun came close to that star and modified the orbit of the planet X, making it orbitting from that star to the sun. The planet X would take several thousand years to reach a star, but would only spend a month or 2 in the close perimeter of that star before going back in the space for another trip of several thousand years.

We're all going to die someday. Instead of talking about "destruction", why not just make the best out of it?

Yeah, that's a personal choice...we all have to decide if we are gonna planify our life in consequence of that date or not. But, I'm curious...that's my nature....I wanna know what you guys think, and if it will happen, then how it will happen?

Well, I'm not afraid of death.... It has to happen one day.

One of my mortal fears is death. I take fun in roleplaying it, but... eugh... I don't like the idea of dying. And at the same time, I feel like life'd get boring when I get old.

well, that's why I'm not afraid of death...Cuz anyway, we all come to realize one day that life gets boring, and no matter what you learn and what you accomplish, pride doesn't exist after death.

If I was to die, I need to kill a specfic someone before I do. I'm not scared of dying, I just want to last long enough to see the evils of this world unfold itself so I may mock the pitiful nature of mankind.

now to get to the subject i do not believe in 2012. on that day cultists will be in the street praying to god for forgiveness. i will be playing video games. if 2012 does happen it will suck because it will be in the middle of my senior year in highschool. as the wave of destruction falls i would say this. "ALL THIS DAMN WORK FOR NOTHING" and then i will die lol.

and the mayans didnt predict the end of the world but the worlds rebirth. i bet thier will be survivors. if not it is fate. i am athiest so i doubt it will happen unless the mayans somehow predicted some unseen threat going on that we are to dumb in modern society to see.

...I really wonder how my 21st december will happen... Will I still be single? Where am I gonna be? Am I going to run to a safe place.... Will there be any place to run??

i can easly list 100 things that could happen. here are a few.

1. meteor
2. some kind of disease
3. nuklear war
4. idoits get in charge of the world{oh wait thats already happened}
5. mass extinction of some kind
6. some kind of maybe star burst that may occur every so often is strong enough to reach earth and cause major damage. i get this theory because in the 60s-80s a magnastar had a burp and sent a wave of energy towards earth. we where lucky to be far enough away to only get a bad heat wave. but if we where 2x closer in space the wave would have hit us and wiped all life on earth out. it goes to show how weak we are and the fact that if something bad like that occurs thiers nothing we can do to stop it.
